Samantha Caplan named the MYSA Young Female Referee of the Year

The Middlesex Youth Soccer League is proud to announce that Samantha Caplan, 18, of Tewksbury has been named as the Massachusetts Young Female Referee of the Year for 2006. Samantha, this year's MYSL Young Female Referee of the Year, has been a referee in the MYSL since the age of 9.

Samantha's efforts in the MYSL won her appointments to our league's Commissioner's Cup tournament, the Massachusetts Tournament of Champions, the State Cup Tournament, and the District Select Tournament.

Samantha is an academic star and athlete. Samantha currently attends Tabor Academy where she is actively involved in student government and sports. Samantha is also a member of the Madrigals choral group.

As a result of winning the Young Referee of the Year distinction, Samantha has been invited to officiate at the Region I Championship tournament to be held at Virginia Beach this coming July. Samantha is also in the running for the Region I Young Referee of the Year award and if she were to win she would be in line for national honors as well.

Samantha's achievement will be recognized this summer at the Mass. State Referee Committee awards dinner.
